Curriculum Vitae

Following her studies in Social Work at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, Stefanie Rieger worked for more than 10 years in Bavaria as a social worker in the field of outpatient and inpatient psychiatry, youth and addiction support, but also in refugee counseling. In addition, she completed the courses of study in philosophy (Bachelor and Master) and personality development in an intercultural context (certificate) at the Hochschule für Philosophie SJ in Munich and completed training as a systemic consultant (SG certified). She experienced a merging of philosophy and social work practice during the university course Philosophical Practice at the University of Vienna, after the successful completion of which she founded her philosophical practice "Denken und Staunen" in 2021. She is voluntarily engaged as a board member in the "Berufsverband für Philosophische Praxis (BV-PP)" (Professional Association for Philosophical Practice). Since December 2022, she is also a researcher in the FWF-funded project "Philosophical Practice in Palliative Care and Hospice Work. The Role of Philosophical Reflection for Developing Caring Cultures and Death Literacy" at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on Aging and Care (CIRAC) at the University of Graz. She is currently also a doctoral candidate at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Graz, researching the role of trust in Philosophical Practice on and in the topics of dying and death.
