Research

The Age and Care Research Group Graz deals with questions of the future, but also with those of old age and ageing processes in the present. It is dedicated to the social and cultural construction of images of ageing as well as questions in the field of dementia research, medical ethics, care ethics, shaping the environment and the end of life. It should be mentioned here that the concept of care does not refer purely to care in the medical sense, but to Joan Tronto's concept of "caring democracy" as a form of living well together and caring for each other, which has a democratic-political aspect to it. This opens up multifaceted dimensions of the care aspect that go far beyond caring for the sick and old.

Interdisciplinary cooperation in the research area takes place primarily in joint research projects. The Age and Care Research Group Graz serves to bundle the scientific expertise of researchers in Graz and to intensify collaboration, and promotes the emergence of new, innovative projects at the research location.
