Research interests are Medical Humanities and Narrative Medicine with a special focus on metaphors and illness narratives as well as the usability of literature in the context of health and illness. Additional research interests include age and aging, life writing, gender, disability, data&stories, serial narration.

Anita Wohlmann is Associate Professor in Contemporary Anglophone Literature at the University of Southern Denmark, Odense, where she works in a research project on the uses of literature with Niels-Bohr Professor Rita Felski. Wohlmann is also affiliated with Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany, where she completed her Master’s degree and PhD. As a postdoc in Mainz, she was the project leader of ‘Body and Metaphor: Narrative-Based Metaphor Analysis in Medical Humanities,’ funded by the German Research Foundation (2017-2020). Since 2015, after a research stay at Columbia University, she facilitates courses and workshops in Narrative Medicine and is a founding member and coordinator of the German Network for Narrative Medicine
