"Pflegestützpunkt" News

On the omission of necessary nursing activities in Austrian hospitals.

Podcast: https://cba.fro.at/577138

Our guest is Ana Cartaxo, Msc. In the Misscare-Austria study, she shows how often (84.4%!) at least one nursing activity is often or very often omitted or performed with a delay that is detrimental to patient safety. The author of the study examines the question of how appropriate nursing staffing is on general wards in Austrian hospitals and what recommendations result from this for decision-makers.

How often are nursing activities implicitly rationed? 84.4% of the participants in the survey stated that in the last 2 weeks at least one nursing activity was often or very often omitted or carried out with a delay that was detrimental to patient safety.
