Begin of page section: Contents:

Medical decisions at the end of life and the question of dying well have been the subject of media debates for several years. Apart from this public discourse in the area of tension between patient autonomy and medical care, little is known about the actual circumstances of dying. In order to do justice to the complexity of situations at the end of life, both transdisciplinary cooperation and interdisciplinary scientific discourse are required.

Knowledge transfer for the benefit of society and the economy

To promote the transfer of academic knowledge to society, the Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW) has founded four knowledge transfer centers (WTZ) at local universities. The aim of these centers is to network scientific institutions and to promote cooperation with non-university institutions. The focus is on promoting social innovations to solve social issues and problems. The cooperation project “Network End of Life” is part of the “Knowledge Transfer Center South” and is dedicated to the implementation of these goals on current issues of shaping the end of life.
