Symposium: Care and Justice - Separate Poles or Two Pillars of a Bridge?

Fridy, 9 September 2022, 9:30-17:00

Kardinal König Haus, Vienna

Care is at the center of life, but often still on the fringes of society. The Corona crisis reminds us: We are and will remain dependent on each other. It is therefore time to move concern into the center of society and to assume a right to concern, to care, for recipients and givers.

There is much to discuss: who provides care, how equitably is it distributed and funded, what shifts can be seen in their organization - and how does all of this affect the practice of care? To what extent does worry become a commodity, how much is it pushed back into the private sphere? How do sustainable networks form in communities today, how do people care for each other and experience that they both create meaning and experience meaning? What would happen if care and justice were to be combined as mutually dependent social requirements: who could find a place on the emerging bridge? How different would the life of those who care be, but also that of the cared for?
