On 7 November 2022, Alekszandra Rokvity (Member of the Age and Care Research Group Graz) gave her TED talk titled “Louder For the People in the Back: Let’s Talk About Endometriosis” at the TEDxMedUniGrazWomen event at the Medical University of Graz to create awareness of this disease. She spoke about her personal experience with endometriosis and about the social constructs surrounding menstruation that lead to prejudice, mystification, and dangerous neglect when it comes to illnesses of female reproductive organs. Her wish is for more people to talk about menstruation and endometriosis, in order to make them aware of this condition and destigmatize the discussions around it.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED events.
